Delete your Onwarder account and data
You can request deletion from the phone app or on the web. You do not need the app installed to use the web page. Opening it does not delete anything: you review your account and confirm before a request is sent.
Open the account deletion page
How to request deletion
- In the phone app: open Settings, then Delete my account. Choose Review deletion to open the account deletion page in a browser. You may need to sign in again.
- On the web: open theaccount deletion page and sign in to the account you want to delete.
- On that page: choose Check account and deletion status. Keep the copies of your writing you need, review the deletion choices, type DELETE MY ACCOUNT, then choose Verify identity and request deletion. Complete the identity check if asked. Keep the request reference and erasure deadline shown when it is accepted.
A receipt confirms your request, not completed erasure. If a request's result is unclear, check its status before trying again. If deletion is unavailable or you cannot sign in, emailsupport@onwarder.com to ask for account and data deletion. A person will help you use the deletion process or tell you when it opens, and confirm when your request is accepted.
If you have an App Store or Google Play subscription, cancel it in that store's subscription settings too. Deleting your Onwarder account does not cancel a store subscription.
What is deleted
Access to your cloud writing stops when your request is accepted. Your books, history, files and account details are erased within 30 days of acceptance. Files include saved versions, alternative drafts, map images and imported manuscripts. The record of how each book was written is erased with your account too, and so are readers' comments on your books and the copies you sent to readers.
What remains, and for how long
- A deletion record stays indefinitely. It proves erasure happened and keeps it in force. It contains internal account, book, file and record identifiers; one-way fingerprints of erased records, not their text; account creation and deletion dates; your request reference, dates and confirmed choices; and a log of erasure steps. It contains no email address, name, writing or IP address.
- Payment records stay for six years. If you ever started a checkout with us, we retain Stripe reference numbers for your customer record, subscriptions, checkouts, invoices and payment events, with their prices and dates, as UK tax law requires. We delete these six years after your last billing event: the day erasure finished or, if later, the last checkout, subscription or invoice event Stripe sent us about your account after your request. Stripe keeps its own payment records as the law requires of it.
- Operational logs roll off inside 30 days. These include IP addresses and user agents used to debug faults and block abuse.
- Database backups expire. Each private backup is kept for no more than 35 days, so a deleted account can remain in a backup for up to 35 days after erasure. Cloudflare's own database history lasts up to 30 days. Backups are used only to restore the service after a fault or test a restore. Deleted accounts are erased again from any restored copy before the service reopens.
- Anonymous website analytics are not linked to your account. There is no account identity in those events to erase. The phone app loads no analytics.
Copies on devices and with readers
Account deletion does not erase copies already saved on your devices or by readers. Keep unsent writing and any other copies you need first. Signing out does not clear the phone's stored writing. Uninstalling the phone app removes its storage; for the browser version, clear this site's data in your browser settings. Removing a home-screen shortcut may not clear it. We cannot recall copies or screenshots someone else already saved.
