Get Onwarder on your iPhone
Install the iPhone beta through TestFlight, then write anywhere. Books you start on the phone are saved on the phone.
Onwarder on iPhone is the whole of Onwarder, not a cut-down companion. Its App Store listing is in review. You can use the beta through Apple’s TestFlight app in the meantime.
Install it
- On your iPhone, open onwarder.com and choose iPhone, then Get the iPhone beta.
- This opens TestFlight, Apple’s app for trying betas. Install TestFlight if you do not have it.
- Back in TestFlight, install Onwarder.
- Open Onwarder from your home screen.
You do not need an account. Onwarder shows Opening your library, then Your books.
Start a book
- Tap New book.
- Type a working title. You can change it later.
- Tap Start writing.
Your book opens on the page, ready to type. Along the bottom are three tabs:
- Write is the page.
- Story bible holds your characters, places, items and factions.
- Book has your chapters and scenes, drafts, target, export and the rest of the book’s tools.
Tap the scene’s title at the top to see the scene list and jump to another scene. Books at the top left takes you back to your library.
Above the keyboard there is a bar with find, page tools and a button to hide the keyboard.
Where your books are kept
Books you start on the phone are saved on the phone as you write, with or without a signal. Deleting the app can delete them, so keep a copy:
- In your library, tap Settings.
- Tap Storage and backup, then Save a copy, then Save library to file.
- Choose where to keep the file, such as iCloud Drive or Files.
To bring in books saved on another device, tap Open a copy in the same place, then Open an Onwarder file. For a Word or text manuscript, tap Import in your library.
Signing in
You can write without signing in. To sign in, for example to use Onwarder Cloud, open Settings and tap Sign in.
