Your privacy and your words
What stays on your device, what reaches us if you use Cloud, what your own AI sees, and how to take everything with you or delete it.
Your book is yours. This page explains, in plain words, where your writing goes. The full legal version is our privacy notice.
Without an account
If you write without signing in, your library is on your device and nowhere else. We do not receive your writing, your titles or your story bible. There is nothing of yours on our side to read, lose or hand over.
Files you save with Save to file are yours to keep wherever you like. They are not encrypted, so keep them somewhere private.
With Onwarder Cloud
If you use Cloud, what you keep in your account is stored with our hosting provider, Cloudflare. People we authorise to run the service could read it.
Things you choose to share, such as a private reader copy or a public book page, are sent to the people you share them with.
Your own AI
Onwarder sells no AI and never trains AI on your books: not our models, not anyone else’s. There is no exception for anonymised or sampled use.
If you connect your own AI, it only sees books you have turned on, and only within the mode you chose. What it reads goes to your AI provider under their terms. Turning access off stops new reading; it cannot recall words already sent. A local model on your own computer sends nothing to an AI company.
What we measure
- On the website, we count visits and a few product events to see what is used. These never include your writing or the names in your book.
- In the desktop app, you can choose Send error reports (in Settings, Updates). When something fails, Onwarder sends the type of error and which part failed, never your writing, names, email or files. It is your choice and remembered on that computer.
- On phones, we do not send usage analytics.
Take everything with you
- Your whole library: Settings, Storage and backup, Save to file (on a phone, Save a copy), then Save library to file where it is offered. The file opens in Onwarder on any device.
- A finished book: Export to Word, EPUB or PDF.
- Your saved Cloud writing: the account deletion page offers a download of it before anything is removed.
Delete your account
You can delete your account and Cloud data at any time.
- On the web: sign in at onwarder.com and open the account deletion page from your account settings.
- On a phone: open Settings and, under your account, choose Delete account.
Onwarder asks you to keep a copy first, confirm what will be erased, and type DELETE MY ACCOUNT. Deleting erases your Cloud copy, its history and files. Books saved on your devices, and files you have saved, are not affected: we cannot reach them. Our page on deleting your account and data gives the timings.
